Found a Great Photograph 4/14/2007

Our first morning in Bryce and the DLWS staff was up and out at o’dark thirty for sunrise. It was a beautiful morning…for about five minutes, and then the sun came up hot and bright; not a cloud in the sky.
We photographed for awhile enjoying the view and then headed to the visitor center to look around. And, look what we found…my photograph on a poster in the Bryce Canyon NP visitor center. (Well, I knew it was there but the rest of the gang didn’t so, it was fun showing it off to everyone.) This photo was taken about a year and a half ago. It was a week of bright, sunny days…not a cloud in the sky kind of weather which is great for fun in the sun but not so great for photography. Our last afternoon, the clouds began to build and a huge thunder and lightning storm moved in followed by a downpour. We sat in the car at Sunset Point waiting out the rain in hopes that the sun would break through just before sunset and our patience paid off in spades. Not only did the sun came out but a gorgeous double rainbow stretched from rim to rim. There wasn’t another soul on the rim that afternoon; everyone had high tailed it back to the lodge to get out of the rain. Sometimes you make your own luck. The photo in the poster was captured with D2X, 12-24mm on Lexar 4gb CF card.

Photograph of me captured by Moose Peterson on D200 with 17-55mm, SB-800 and Lexar 8gb CF card
