We hosted our first DLWS Vermont in 2004 and the locals told us you need to be here two weeks later for the fall color. So, in 2006 we came two weeks later and were told “You should have been here two weeks ago.” So, this year we split the date and came right in the middle and guess what we found….Color!, Glorious color!
Vermont in the fall…there is a bite in the air, a sweet smell of the sugar shacks cooking up some delicious maple syrup and the fall color that Vermont is so famous for.

At one of our stops a curious cow with a crazy do came up to check us out. So, I photographed him. (OK, it’s a bull but that did not rhyme)

For our last shoot in the San Juans we headed to Jackl Beach to shoot the sunset. With dramatic skies, and a little wave action it made for a grand finale. Once again, another successful DLWS comes to a close. I think it is safe to say that a good time was had by all. Moose showed everyone how to straighten a fisheye image in Capture NX2 which I had not done for some time so when the opportunity arose to shoot really wide, I decided to give it a go. That’s one of the great things about DLWS, not only do we get to work with some really nice people, we learn new techniques, are reminded of techniques we haven’t used in awhile and see the world through thirty additional eyes for a few days. It’s simply the best!

We managed to dodge another stormy morning. So far our DLWS lucky charm is holding. The weather report was for rain all three days and we have had overcast at the worst. The clouds parted this morning giving us dramatic skies for sunrise. I tried one of Josh’s NIK techniques to finish this image…

Wandering around British Camp I saw a warm glow in one of the windows.

After a great morning at the marina, we headed to the Forest at British Camp. The light was played hide and seek through the trees. With a great group of enthusiastic photographers, it’s fun seeking out the photo opportunities.

I seemed to be in an abstract mood today what with reflections in the AM and zoom blurs in the PM.
