The bird
photography in so Texas is hot, and I mean hot! So are the temperatures…which
is why the photography is so hot. You know the saying “If you build
it, they will come.” Well, it is true in So. Texas as well where
several ranches have joined together to create a haven for birds to come to
in the hot weather and where photographers flock to photograph the birds. Photographing
from blinds, we are able to be very close to our subjects and capture some
prize winning images for our efforts. Join me for a week of photographing
some of the most colorful and amazing birds in No America in this little corner
of So. Texas. Located right in one of the migratory flyways, birds stop
over to rest, eat and refresh themselves in preparation for the long flight
north in the spring. Shooting every morning and evening from the comfort
of blinds the chances of adding many new and varied birds to your files is
a no brainer. Let me share this birders paradise with you and help you
to capture some outstanding images in the process.
Likely species include but are not limited to: Plain Chachalaca, Green Jays,
Scaled Quail, Harris’s Hawks, Crested Caracara, Long-billed and curve-billed
Thrashers, Golden-fronted Woodpecker, Great Kiskadee, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
and too many more to name.
The $1950.00 fee includes: transportation to and from locations and instruction
both in the field and during breaks. Limited to five photographers.
An additional “raptor shoot” can be combined or separate from
the regular safari for $1650.00 and includes: transportation to and from locations,
instruction in the field and at breaks, lodging and meals at a very comfortable
lodge nearby. The raptor extension is geared around regular morning shoots
followed by afternoons spent at the raptor blinds with a focus on photographing
Harris’s Hawks and Crested Caracara as well as any number of other visitors. Limited
to three photographers.
